Happy birthday to Bob Trumpy, Cincinnati's original "Trump." He created radio sports talk here in 1976 while still playing tight end for the Cincinnati Bengals.

Trumpy, born 72 years ago today in Springfield, Ill., hosted a weekly one-hour show in 1976 on WCKY-AM (1530), before "Monday Night Football" broadcasts – after WLW-AM turned down the idea.

Country Radio Hall Of Fame

Congratulations to Tim Closson, former WUBE-FM operations director, who will be inducted into the Country Radio Hall of Fame in Nashville on June 21.

Jerry Springer's "Tales, Tunes & Tomfoolery" podcast taped in Ludlow is now available on Westwood One’s Podcast and On-Demand platform.

Springer, a former Cincinnati mayor and WLWT-TV news anchor, comes back here weekly to record the show at the Folk School Coffee Parlor, 332 Elm St., Ludlow.

Premiere Networks

Bill Cunningham’s flagship station has benched his national Sunday night talk show for NFL football.

“Live On Sunday Night, It’s Bill Cunningham” airs on nearly 350 stations – but not on Cunningham’s hometown WLW-AM, his long-time employer, this fall. Both WLW-AM and his national syndicator, Premiere Networks, are owned by iHeartMedia (formerly Clear Channel).

“It’s a contract issue with iHeartMedia,” Cunningham says.
