Consider two families: one in eastern Ohio’s Tuscarawas County, and another just a few miles away in Carroll County.

The Dayton Mediation Center was established by the city in 1987, “in an effort to ease the impact of community conflicts on public resources.”  The center intervenes in conflicts between residents, neighborhood organizations, businesses, employers and employees, schools, law enforcement agencies and even the Dayton court system.

Kentucky is now the first state in the country to make joint custody the "legal presumption" in divorce proceedings. The new law, signed by Governor Matt Bevin in April, goes into effect in July and requires judges to grant equal custody in all cases, unless one parent has filed a domestic violence protective order against the other within the last three years.

According to research released by the Bowling Green State University National Center for Family & Marriage Research, the divorce rate in the Unites States has been dropping steadily for several years, dropping to a 40 year low in 2015.
