About the Artist:Akaash Singh is a nationally touring stand-up comedian, podcaster, and actor. His career took off with many television shows including MTV’s “Guy Code” and “Wild’n Out,” Netflix’s “Brown Nation,” and HBO’s “The Leftovers” After finding success in TV, he pivoted his focus toward growing the now hugely successful podcast “Flagrant,” co-created with fellow comedian and good friend, Andrew Schulz, along with his successful stand-up comedy touring career. Akaash self-produced and directed his first stand up special, “Bring Back Apu” in February, amassing over a million views in its first week alone. Just one month later, he released “The Crowdwork Special,” putting him in rarified air of comedians who produced two specials in back-to-back months. Aside from stand up, look for Akaash as the lead in the Netflix Animated Series “Conquest” as well as an upcoming Hulu series created by Ramy Youssef.

Shapel Lacey is a Los Angeles based comedian born and raised in Mesa, Arizona. A diehard punk rocker and former award-winning competitive cheerleader, Shapel found ways to express himself and own his individuality at an early age. Shapel was cheerleading competitively for University of Louisville when someone dared him to take the stage as a comedian and he never looked back, dropping out shortly thereafter to pursue a career in stand up full-time. His unique life experiences such as having 3 dads, his punk rock mentality, and his stage presence make for a truly original voice in the comedy community. Diligence and the desire to grow led Shapel from the Phoenix open mic circuit onto main stages in Los Angeles, where he regularly performs at The Comedy Store, Laugh Factory and Hollywood Improv. Shapel has a 30 minute special out through Don’t Tell Comedy, called “Three Dads, Two Moms.” and can be seen headlining comedy clubs across the country.
Commonwealth Comedy Club (formerly Commonwealth Sanctuary) is Cincinnati’s home for exquisitely curated live entertainment. Each week we bring you hilarious stand-up comedians, intimate concerts, unique theater productions, live podcast recordings, and so much more.
Commonwealth Comedy Club is housed in the recently renovated, historic former Tower Methodist Church, originally built in 1914. It is no longer a church! Rather, we have converted the purpose of this beautiful old building to bringing you exquisitely curated live entertainment. We have, however, gone to great lengths to preserve the original character of the building while updating for it’s new purpose. We retained all the original stained glass windows and custom-built, curved pews.
We have added a full concession stand with draft beer and wine, as well as many canned drinks, including cocktails. We partner with local Dayton, KY business Kate’s Catering for our prepared food options. We have added full lighting and sound systems, as well as a complete broadcast-quality video system for recording events and live podcasts. We are exclusively partnered with Third Rule Media to produce our recorded content
