Farewell And Thanks To Chris Phelps!

Chris Phelps

Today marks the end of an era at Cincinnati Public Radio with the retirement of VP of Content Chris Phelps. She started with WGUC on February 4, 1991 and during the last 30 years she has led our marketing and content efforts, plus served as Interim General Manager.

She’s most likely the person who responded to listener complaints and compliments, helped lead our organization through tremendous growth (spurred by the acquisition of WVXU in 2005), financial challenges, several rebranding campaigns, and the tragic and premature losses of some of our co-workers.

Chris leads with a calm confidence and inherent trust in the people around her. Her passion for our mission of providing the very best public radio programming to our community never wavered. She was integral to the start, and continued success, of the Cincinnati International Wine Festival and that relationship will continue as one of her legacies.

The volunteers and staff of Cincinnati Public Radio wish to express their sincere gratitude to Chris Phelps for her 30 years of leadership, integrity, friendship, and compassion. As she begins a new professional opportunity, we wish her great success and happiness.

Chris, you’re leaving this place, and all of us, better off than you found us, and for that, we thank you.
