Boone County holds tire disposal program

Boone County residents are able to get rid of their old tires now through Saturday as the county hosts the Tire Amnesty.

There's no limit on how many you can bring in and they can be on or off the rim. Foam filled tires, off-road construction and equipment tires, and solid tires with pressed-on rims or tires larger than tractor size won't be taken.

Old tires can be disposed of from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm at the Boone County Public Works Yard at the end of Maplewood Drive in Burlington.  Bavarian Landfill is also hosting the Tire Amnesty at its facility at the end of McCoy Fork Road just outside Walton.

The free tire disposal, which is held every three years, is a joint effort with the Kentucky Cabinet for Energy & Environment.

Tire retailers, tire dealers, junk yards and garages are prohibited from participating.
