Duke Delaying Pipeline Timeline

Duke Energy says it's extending its timeline for considering a new gas pipeline that could run through parts of suburban Hamilton County.

The Central Corridor Natural Gas Pipeline project would lay a 12-mile-long, 30-inch steel pipeline underground from near where the Hamilton, Butler, and Warren County lines meet to Norwood or Fairfax.

Community members have balked at the idea.

Duke says its extending the original June decision deadline for review beyond July.

A company statement says the additional time is needed to meet with community leaders, elected officials and neighbors, and to review customer feedback on the project.

The company has received over a thousand comments and more than 500 people attended an open forum earlier this month.

Duke now plans to submit two possible pipeline routes to regulators later this summer.
