Labor Day has always been considered the unofficial end of summer, and during election years, it?'s also known as the beginning of the serious campaign season as candidates ratchet-up their ads, campaign appearances and fundraising. With us today to look at where things stand now in the major Ohio and Kentucky races are Dr. Gene Beaupre, assistant director of Xavier University's Philosophy, Politics, and the Public Honors Program; Cincinnati Enquirer Politics and Kentucky Government reporter Scott Wartman; and Ohio Public Radio and Television Statehouse News Bureau Chief Karen Kasler.

Jay Hanselman brings more than 10 years experience as a news anchor and reporter to 91.7 WVXU. He came to WVXU from WNKU, where he hosted the local broadcast of All Things Considered. Hanselman has been recognized for his reporting by the Kentucky AP Broadcasters Association, the Ohio Society of Professional Journalists, and the Ohio AP Broadcasters.
