As a new strain of coronavirus (COVID-19) swept through the world in 2020, preparedness plans, masking policies and more public policy changed just as quickly. WVXU has covered the pandemic's impact on the Tri-State from the very beginning, when on March 3, 2020, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine barred spectators from attending the Arnold Sports Festival in Columbus over concerns about the virus, even though Ohio had yet to confirm a single case of COVID-19.

An Update On Coronavirus Cases In Ohio And Kentucky

Cases of coronavirus are rising in Southwest Ohio and Governor Mike DeWine is calling it a "worrisome" trend. During his press conference last Thursday, the governor encouraged residents in the Hamilton County zip codes of 45231, 45240 and 45238 to be tested for COVID-19.

Joining Cincinnati Edition to discuss the rise in cases is Hamilton County Public Health Interim Health Commissioner Greg Kesterman.

On Tuesday, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear announced 307 newly confirmed cases of COVID-19, one of the highest daily totals in the state since the pandemic began. But starting next week, the economy reopens further, with allowances for gatherings of up to fifty people.

University of Louisville Hospital Infectious Disease Specialist Forest Arnold, MD joins Cincinnati Edition to discuss the cases in Kentucky.
