Dusty Baker staying on as Reds field manager

The Reds and  Dusty Baker have reached an agreement on a two-year contract extension through the 2014 season.  They're making the formal announcement Monday afternoon at 3 during a press conference at Great American Ball Park.

"In Dusty's five seasons here he's taken us to the postseason twice and has proven he can lead our teams to championship-caliber play on the field," Reds CEO Bob Castellini said in the news release announcing the agreement.   "He's the right manager to continue the building process that will take us deeper and deeper into the playoffs in the future."

The 63-year-old Baker is 419-391 for a .517 winning percentage in five seasons with the Reds.  He ranks sixth in wins in franchise history.
