John Coltrane

This week in Cincinnati you'll find a benefit show for the Longworth-Anderson concert series at Memorial Hall.  There's also "Guys & Dolls"  at CCM, big band concerts at the Redmoor & the Sorg Opera House, plus the Cripple Creek Music Festival, the Falling for Wiedemann Fall Festival, and for Halloween fans the Wake the Dead Bash in Music Hall's Ballroom.

Cirque Du Soleil is also bringing one of their shows, Kurios: Cabinet of Curiosities to the 3 big screens in Cincinnati one night only 11/13.  And, there's big news about the preservation of John & Alice Coltrane's Long Island home.

Concerts, concerts, and more concerts all around the Cincinnati area are included in this week's edition of Music Notes.  You'll also hear about the passing of Danny Kirwan who was a guitarist with Fleetwood Mac, about a new film with Tom Waits appearing in it, and a new song released by John Fogerty & ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons.

This week's blues show starts off with one of my favorites by Diana Krall, "Peel Me A Grape" followed by a song from John Coltrane's Ballads cd and one by Kurt Elling.  Dave Frishberg begins the second set along with Harry Connick, Jr., Leon Russell, Prince, and ends with Mary Ellen Tanner singing with the Lee Stolar Trio.  And the show ends with Etta James, Miles Davis, Johnny Adams, and Philip Paul.
