This week on The Blues, Saturday, July 13th at 11pm, you're in for a treat.   You'll hear a phone interview I recorded earlier this week with Derek Trucks from the Tedeschi Trucks Band, plus an in-studio performance/interview featuring Ron Esposito with Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Noah Hunt who dropped by the WVXU studio on Father's Day, June 16th, with their guitars.  You'll also hear two songs from Tedeschi Trucks Band's new album, Signs, as well as two songs by Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Noah Hunt live in our studio.  A shout out to Rick Andress who engineered the in-studio session with Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Noah Hunt.

Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Noah Hunt came in WVXU's Corbett Studio on June 16th, Father's Day, before their soundcheck for their show tonight with Buddy Guy at PNC Pavilion (the show's almost sold out).  Here's part of their conversation with Ron Esposito about their families.  The rest of the interview along with music from their new release, The Traveler, will air on my blues show, Saturday, July 13th at 11pm.  You'll also hear two songs they performed from the album in our studio, too, with just the two of them and their guitars.

This week's blues show, Saturday, May 18th at 11pm, begins with vocalists - Al Jarreau, Ray Charles, Etta James, and the legendary Aretha Franklin.  The second set features Lurrie Bell on Delmark Records, Jimmy Witherspoon, Gov't Mule who'll be at PNC Pavilion June 21st, and k.d. lang who's touring in the UK in July. And this blues show ends with three more vocalists -  Abbey Lincoln, Larry Kinley, and Harry Connick, Jr.

Cincinnati's a popular stop for many nationally known blues artists, and we also are lucky to have so many talented musicians making Cincinnati their home.  So, I thought it'd be fun on this blues show, Saturday night, April 7th at 11pm, to spotlight musicians who have gigs booked here.

The first set begins with blues legend Buddy Guy followed by Walter Trout, Sonny Moorman who has an incredibly busy schedule, and Noah Hunt who's coming to the Ludlow Garage with Jason Dennie.

Mavis Staples is playing Memorial Hall and will probably sell out her April 20th show.  Also heard in the second set of The Blues are the Blind Boys of Alabama, Keb'Mo, and Taj Mahal.  And, the show ends with Todd Rundgren, Peter Frampton, and Steely Dan.
