In his new book, Rabbit Hash, Kentucky: River Born, Kentucky Bred, local historian Donald Clare talks with Mark Perzel about the stories of Rabbit Hash’s past, it’s one-time importance to commerce at the river’s bend, and the recent revival of Rabbit Hash as a destination location in Boone County.

Talking Heads: The Vent Haven Portraits

You may be aware that Fort Mitchell, Kentucky is the home of the world’s only museum of ventriloquist dummies, called Vent Haven. Recently, nationally known celebrity portraitist Matthew Robinson did a photo shoot of many of the dolls for his new book, Talking Heads: The Vent Haven Portraits and his work is profiled in this month’s Cincinnati Magazine. Mark Perzel welcomes Linda Vaccariello from the magazine into the studio to talk about this unique project.

Ernie K-Doe: The R&B Emperor of New Orleans

Cincinnati native Ben Sandmel has studied music and musicians during his career, and now living in New Orleans, he has written about one of the true pioneers of R&B music in his new book Ernie K-Doe: The R&B Emperor of New Orleans. The author was recently a part of the Books by the Banks book festival in Cincinnati, and recently spoke by phone with David Delagator to talk about this interesting artist, best known for his hit Mother in Law.
