The bloody family feud between the McCoys of Kentucky and the Hatfields of West Virginia spanned generations and left more than a dozen of their kinfolk dead. The story has been explored countless times in news accounts, books, magazines, stage plays and TV and film productions. Notably, a History Channel miniseries on the feud was highly acclaimed. Now, the Hatfields & McCoys return to the screen in the next installment of PBS's American Experience anthology series.

The Feud is written and directed by Randall MacLowry and premieres on Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 9 p.m. It’s the most famous family rivalry in American history, but there is still much to learn. MacLowry contends that the story is one of more than two warring families – but rather an exploration of the impact of capitalism and industrialization on rural America.

Joining Cincinnati Edition to discuss The Feud is writer/producer/director Randall MacLowry.

Listen to Cincinnati Edition live at noon M-F. Audio for this segment will be uploaded after 4 p.m. ET.
