Being alert about scams can save you a lot of time, money and aggravation.

Scams and other types of fraud cost Americans billions of dollars each year. And the variety of scams is far reaching, from tax scams to sweepstakes scams to identity theft.

This is National Consumer Protection Week, created to inform people about their consumer rights while providing them with access to free consumer-related resources.

Joining us to talk about Consumer Protection Week and ways to avoid the various scams that are lurking out there, are Melissa Smith, Director of Consumer Education and Outreach for the Ohio Attorney General’s Office; Jon Steiger, Director of the East Central Region of theFederal Trade Commission, based in Cleveland; and Community Outreach Specialist with the Cincinnati BBB, Sandra Guile.
