Should CPS High Schools Start Later In The A.M.?
Cincinnati Public Schools is studying the impact of a later school start time for high school students. As part of this process, CPS held a community meeting and surveyed students.
The American Medical Association encourages middle and high schools to start no earlier than 8:30 a.m. to benefit the health of young people. But a later school start time also means a later end time, which could hinder after school activities and work schedules. It also could impact Cincinnati Metro's bus schedule at a significant cost.
Joining "Cincinnati Edition" to discuss high school start times are Cincinnati Public Schools Board Member Eve Bolton; and Professors of Pediatrics within the Division of Behavioral Medicine at with Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center Dr. Monica Mitchell; and Dr. Dean Beebe.
