A pair of hometown natives have a new podcast focusing on politics with a comedic twist. Author and comedian Akilah Hughes and political journalist Gideon Resnick, formerly of The Daily Beast, co-host What A Day, which debuted October 28 on Crooked Media.

Hughes grew up in Florence, Ky. She is the author of a collection of personal essays titled Obviously: Stories from my Timeline. Her comedic YouTube channel, It's Akilah, Obviously!, has amassed more than 150,000 subscribers.

Resnick grew up in Cincinnati and is a national political reporter. Previously he was a staff reporter at the Daily Beast covering politics, the Democrats and the left. His work has also appeared in VICE, the New York Observer, and The Atlantic.
