As a new strain of coronavirus (COVID-19) swept through the world in 2020, preparedness plans, masking policies and more public policy changed just as quickly. WVXU has covered the pandemic's impact on the Tri-State from the very beginning, when on March 3, 2020, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine barred spectators from attending the Arnold Sports Festival in Columbus over concerns about the virus, even though Ohio had yet to confirm a single case of COVID-19.

Kentucky Childcare Centers Will Close By Friday

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear is asking daycare centers statewide to close by Friday. The governor said there will be exceptions for healthcare workers and first responders. Beshear says the state is preparing plan to offer child care for healthcare workers, but has not shared details of that plan.

Learning Grove is preparing to close its Kentucky locations at the end of this week. The non-profit provides early learning to thousands of children in Ohio and Kentucky. Learning GroveCEO Shannon Starkey-Taylor joins Cincinnati Edition to discuss how the closures will impact families.
