Care Cab offering safe rides home

Many people will be celebrating the New Year tonight and, as with any party, some will have too much to drink and need a safe ride home.

MADD and AAA are joining forces again this year to offer Care Cab.  It will provide a free taxi ride home to people who’ve had too much to drink.

MADD’s Andrea Rehkamp (RAY-camp) says it's important to think before you drink.

“Once the drinking begins the thought process diminishes and so that’s not the time to decide how you’re going to get home safely. You need to make a plan and have that plan in place before you go out to drink. We believe having the Care Cab as an option is one way to try to make the roads safer for those that are out there celebrating,” she says.

Rehkamp says Care Cab has provided more than 2,000 rides 5,300 people during the last 16 years.

The program begins this evening at six o’clock and continues through midnight on New Year’s Day.  The number for a ride is 513-768-FREE.
