WVXU is joining local television, radio and print news organizations for the broadcast event Tri-State Strong: Getting to Zero, a program produced by the Regional COVID Communications Center (RC3).
The program will broadcast on multiple TV and radio stations and stream online, including at wvxu.org. WVXU News Director and Morning Edition host Maryanne Zeleznik is representing the station in the hour-long program.
This media event convenes leaders in business and health care, as well as front-line hospital workers, local celebrities and respected voices in education, sports, the arts and faith-based organizations to share an urgent message with the public, a news release said.
The goal is to help the region find its way to zero positive COVID-19 cases, zero hospitalizations, zero closures and zero deaths.
"Extraordinary times calls for extraordinary measures," RC3 Executive Director Regina Carswell Russo said. "Journalists and our local media have been a powerful force in helping our region navigate this year. And now they are pulling that power together to set the region's eyes on a common goal, getting to zero and getting through the next few months so we can live, work and play safely. We are overwhelmed at how many people jumped at the idea of participating."
Russo joins Cincinnati Edition to talk about the program.
