The Forest Hills School District held a meeting Tuesday to discuss the future of Anderson High School's controversial logo. The meeting came in response to calls on social media for the race-based name to go, with a petition calling the word offensive, which gained 5,000 signatures by Tuesday afternoon.
Protesters turned out at the Forest Hills School Board last Friday calling on board members to remove the logo from anything associated with Anderson High School. The debate goes back decades. In 1999, 2003 and 2018 there were similar pushes to remove the name.
The school district will hold a special meeting Thursday, July 2 and they could vote on a motion to retire the Anderson High School logo.
