The Humane Society of the United States has released its annual Horrible Hundred report of problem puppy mills and Ohio is the third largest seller on the list with 16 problem puppy sellers.
The report outlines some disturbing findings of abuse and neglect. Dozens of pet stores across the country, including at least 21 Petland stores, purchased puppies from dealers in this year’s report. Many of the dealers, were found selling on PuppyFind.com, a website that the Humane Society has repeatedly linked to problem puppy mills.
Undercover footage taken by Humane Society investigators formed the basis for some of the entries in this year’s report. Joining Cincinnati Edition to discuss the report are Humane Society of the United States Stop Puppy Mills Campaign Senior Director John Goodwin; Cincinnati Animal CARE Humane Society Director of Lifesaving Operations Meaghan Colville.
Listen to Cincinnati Edition live at noon M-F. Audio for this segment will be uploaded after 4 p.m. ET.
