Ohio's unemployment rate continued to tick upward last month.

The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services released its monthly unemployment rate report on Friday, citing an increase from 5% in May to 5.2% in June. This comes despite the state adding 31,300 nonagricultural jobs.

The report stated the number of unemployed workers in June was 291,000, which was up from 278,000 in May.

The state continues to see an increase in unemployment since March and April, where it saw its lowest rates at 4.7 percent both months. The increase in June puts the unemployment rate just slightly under what it was in January, which was 5.3 percent.

June's unemployment rate is around half of what it was the same month last year, which sat at 10.3 percent.

This month's unemployment rate data will be released on Aug. 20.
