Hamilton County holding Voter Check "telethon" to aid voters
A the Hamilton County Board of Elections will hold a telethon-style event Tuesday and again on October 6th so voters can make sure they are up-to-date on their voter registration.
Hamilton County elections director Sherry Poland said the board will staff a phone bank from 5 to 6 p.m. on both days to help voters. Oct. 6 is the last day to register to vote in the November election.
“Voter Check is an opportunity for county residents to contact the board of elections to check up on their voter registration status,’’ Poland said.
Voters can call Voter Check to report changes of address or changes of name; and get information on where their polling places are located. Poland says it is something the Hamilton County Board of Elections decided to do in conjunction with National Voter Registration Day. She says she's not aware of any other other county doing a telethon-style Voter Check program.
“It’s just to bring awareness and try to get all residents who wish to participate registered timely; and to make sure that the board of elections has all of their updated information, which not only includes change of address but change of name,’’ Poland said.
The phone number to call is 513-632-7000.
