Coronavirus
As a new strain of coronavirus (COVID-19) swept through the world in 2020, preparedness plans, masking policies and more public policy changed just as quickly. WVXU has covered the pandemic's impact on the Tri-State from the very beginning, when on March 3, 2020, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine barred spectators from attending the Arnold Sports Festival in Columbus over concerns about the virus, even though Ohio had yet to confirm a single case of COVID-19.

'Like An Asthma Attack That Never Ended': Local Mom Has COVID-19 Despite Testing Negative

Elizabeth Edwards

Cincinnati Edition speaks with a local mom who works in venture capital about her struggle with COVID-19. Elizabeth Edwards details how she tested negative but doctors confirmed she has the virus.

"It was like an asthma attack that never ended," Edwards said.

She knew her job put her at risk.

"My case is probably not unlike a lot of your listeners right now in that I have a very global job … So, I already knew that I was at risk and in fact back in February I got the flu."

Edwards got tested through the Cincinnati Health Department but when her test results came back on Thursday, March 19 the results said she was negative for the coronavirus.

"My chart with my doctor, and the way my doctor is treating me is positive COVID. But I am not in the numbers counted for Hamilton County," Edwards says.

On Cincinnati Edition we hear her ordeal battling the illness, quarantined at home with sick family members. And you can also read more on her story by visiting the Enquirer.

Listen to Cincinnati Edition live at noon M-F. Audio for this segment will be uploaded after 4 p.m. ET.
