Friday News Review: Covington Homeless Shelter Ordinance Draws Concerns

An ordinance being drafted at Covington City Hall could make the operation of a homeless shelter in the city more difficult. Mayor Joe Meyer has raised concerns over the presence and behavior of people experiencing homelessness in parts of the city, so the four shelters operating there could face tighter regulations.

Some neighbors in Fort Mitchell are working to create a pocket park but a recent report indicates that one of the goals may go beyond the installation of a public space. A sex offender living nearby may have to move due to a law that states a person convicted of such crimes cannot live near a park.

A new poll shows the race for Kentucky governor is a dead heat, days after incumbent Republican Matt Bevin and his Democratic challenger, Attorney General Andy Beshear, faced off in a debate.
