Ohio State Sen. Cecil Thomas Pulls Paperwork For Cincinnati's 2021 Mayoral Race

Another familiar face in Cincinnati politics might be throwing his hat into the race for mayor in 2021.

Ohio State Sen. Cecil Thomas, D-Cincinnati, Monday afternoon picked up a petition packet from the Hamilton County Board of Elections office in Norwood, a board of elections staffer confirmed to WCPO.

While this is typically the first step in the process of running for an elected office, the staffer could not confirm Thomas' intent to run for mayor next year.

Thomas or any other would-be mayoral candidate needs 500 ballot signatures to qualify to run.

WCPO reached out to Thomas for comment but did not immediately hear back.
