Combatting Human Trafficking

Human trafficking seems like a third-world country problem, but, sadly, it hits far closer to home than most people realize. Human trafficking is a multi-billion dollar a year industry that forces the most vulnerable in our society, including millions of children, into modern-day slavery. And it exists here. Congressman Steve Chabot, who has introduced legislation to combat trafficking of children, and Luke Blocher, director of Strategic Initiatives at the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, join us to discuss the problem, and how to fight it.

Congressman Chabot and Melinda Haggerty of the Ohio Attorney General’s office will give a presentation in Cincinnati Monday night on human trafficking, for details click here.

On Wednesday March 19, the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center is holding a  premiere of the documentary, #standwithme, which tells the story of a young girl doing her part to combat the modern day slavery of children, in the only way she knew how, by setting up a lemonade stand.  For information click here. And Women Helping Women's Sunday Salon series presents "In Our Own Back Yard: Human Trafficking Today" on March 30.
