DHL plans to announce more details Friday morning about its recent expansion at CVG and plans for future growth.
The company is already in the midst of a $108 million expansion, the latest project in a nearly $300 million capital investment over the past seven years.
The so-called super hub for the global express and logistics company is trying to meet the growing international shipping demands for companies like P&G, GE Aviation and Luxottica. Northern Kentucky developers are hoping to cash in on the continued expansion of DHL at CVG.
To give you an idea of just how busy DHL is, when WVXU toured two years ago, executives showed off the facility with more than 125,000 packages sorted per night, that's 108,000 pieces per hour, traveling on four miles of conveyor belts.
During a news conference Friday, DHL's CEO for the Americas, the Airport CEO and the Kentucky Governor are scheduled to speak. In the last seven years, DHL's staff has grown about 50 percent to 2,400 employees.
In March, the German-based package delivery company announced it planned to hire more part-time and full-time employees than were announced last November. It said shipping volumes had increased in the last year and it needed to fill 150 non-seasonal positions, instead of the previously announced 100.
