Archdiocese of Cincinnati

Susie Gibbons is the new interim head of Cincinnati Archdiocese schools. She takes over Oct. 1 for Jim Rigg who is leaving to take the top school job in the Chicago's Archdiocese. Gibbons currently serves as a Regional Director of Catholic Schools and has taught at Seton and Alter high schools.

In a statement, Archbishop Dennis M. Schnurr says, "Susie Gibbons has devoted her entire career to Catholic education in our Archdiocese... She will be a steady hand as Interim Superintendent over the next several months, insuring that the strong forward movement of our schools will continue."

Rigg calls Gibbons "an invaluable member" of his staff. "She is a woman of great integrity, intelligence, and drive. She has a vibrant faith life, and lives out this faith in her compassionate and Christian treatment of others. Susie has my complete confidence in continuing the forward momentum of our Catholic schools."

The Archdiocese is planning a national search for a permanent replacement. That's slated to begin later this year.
