"LEGO Lover's Playground" To Accompany LEGO Exhibit

Daniel ............
"The Art of the Brick"

When The Art of the Brick opens next week at the Cincinnati Museum Center, visitors will be able to look and play.

A companion exhibit titled Brickopolis is an interactive gallery with kid-sized work tables and bins full of LEGO bricks for children and adults to make their own creations.

The Art of the Brick has been called "the world's largest LEGO exhibit." It's the brainchild of artist Nathan Sawaya. His works include original designs along with adaptations of famous pieces such as the Mona Lisa by Da Vinci and Starry Night by Van Gogh. For the adventure seeker, there's a 20-foot long T-Rex skeleton.

Brickopolis includes ramps for racing LEGO cars, a LEGO city built by a local LEGO Users Group, theme days with hands-on activities, design and build contests, and an opportunity to "LEGO-tize" yourself. The Museum Center describes it this way:

We've LEGO-tized over 30 objects for you to choose from, including LEGO versions of Cincinnati Museum Center favorites like the polar bear, dinosaurs, steamboat and Union Terminal. Make your pick, stick it to the wall behind you and snap a picture. Then share it using #ArtOfTheBrick #brickie and we'll post our favorites on a video in the gallery.

Theexhibit opens October 23 and runs through May 1, 2016.
