Cincinnati native Rose Lavelle scored twice in her first start at the Women's World Cup in France Tuesday.
The Mount Notre Dame standout posted goals in the 20th and 56th minutes as the USA topped Thailand 13-0. It's the highest scoring victory in Women's World Cup (WWC) history.

The USA's next match is Sunday, June 16 at noon ET against Chile.
Lavelle has now scored nine career goals for the Women's National Team. She "is the third-youngest American ever to score a brace (two goals) in a WWC match at 24 years, 28 days old," according to U.S. Soccer.
The two younger players were Cat Whitehill in 2003 and Kristine Lilly in 1995.
Lavelle stopped in Cincinnati ahead of leaving for France to unveil a mural at The Banks in her honor.
"I always say that Cincinnati is the city that built me into the player and the person that I am today," she said. "I think the support that I get from Cincinnati means so much to me because this city means so much to me."
A mainstay in the Youth National Team system, Lavelle was first called up to the full U.S. Women's National Team in 2017. She made her first appearance and started March 4, 2017, against England. Her first goal for the Red, White & Blue came against Russia a month later on April 9, 2017.
Lavelle graduated from Mount Notre Dame High School, where she was a standout player, and was the number one NWSL draft pick in 2017. She currently is a midfielder with the NWSL's Washington Spirit.
In college, she set a program record at the University of Wisconsin, becoming a three-time All-American.
