The former Apple Street Market in Northside will soon be renovated to offer 57 affordable housing units, with a goal of providing living opportunities to LGBTQ seniors, or people age 55 or older.
Apple Street Senior was brought about through a partnership between Northsiders Engaged in Sustainable Transformation (NEST) and Pennrose Development.
While residents of Apple Street will need to be over the age of 55, they don't have to identify as LGBTQ.
The property was purchased by NEST with financial assistance from the city of Cincinnati, and Pennrose was selected as a development partner. The project hopes to use low income housing tax credits, and if successful, the apartments could be ready for leasing by May of 2022.
