As a new strain of coronavirus (COVID-19) swept through the world in 2020, preparedness plans, masking policies and more public policy changed just as quickly. WVXU has covered the pandemic's impact on the Tri-State from the very beginning, when on March 3, 2020, Ohio Gov. Tamaya Dennard is now a former member of Cincinnati City Council, stepping down this week three-fourths of the way through her first term, amid federal charges that allege the political rookie engaged in the sale of votes.

Dennard denies the charges.

Also this week, while Dennard's federal case continued, a car registered to her and reported stolen crashed into a home in Walnut Hills.

And one local columnist explored the promise of Dennard's once bright political future, writing that her story is now inspiring and tragic.

In other news this week, Ohio state officials gathered in the capital to discuss preparation and processes for addressing the nation's coronavirus situation, which has not yet hit Ohio as it has other places in America.

The Democratic presidential primary now has a smaller field with under two weeks to go before Ohio voters head to the polls.

And the Newport Aquarium debuts a new shipwreck-themed exhibit.

Joining Cincinnati Edition for the weekly news review are WKRC-TV reporter Angenette Levy, Cincinnati Enquirer columnist Byron McCauley, Ohio Public Radio Statehouse News Bureau reporter Andy Chow, WVXU reporter Tana Weingartner, and WVXU Senior Political Analyst Howard Wilkinson.
