Blues begins with tribute to Allen Toussaint

allen_toussaint.jpg

Sadly, the great Allen Toussaint passed away this past Monday while on tour in Madrid.  His presence was a given in New Orleans for years and years.  Such a talent.  So, in his honor, the first two songs of this week's blues show on Saturday, November 14th, at 11pm, will feature Mr. Toussaint followed by "Precious Lord" by the Blind Boys of Alabama.

I've also included in this program an interview Rick Pender did with Dan Wheetman, the music director of "Low Down Dirty Blues" that's running at Playhouse in the Park.  You'll also hear music by Etta James and Ruth Brown.

The third set is all about guitarists....Albert King, Lonnie Mack, Sonny Moorman, and Sonny Landreth.  And, the last set quiets down with two vocalists, Eva Cassidy and Diana Krall.
