Former UC police officer Ray Tensing was arraigned today on murder charges after he shot and killed driver Sam DuBose during a traffic stop July 19. He entered a not guilty plea and was held on a million dollar bond.
DuBose's sister, Terina Allen, is calling for a second officer involved in the incident to be fired. She says he lied in his report to protect Tensing.
Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters says he's looking into everything related to the incident.
"They were upset about the incident report because one of the other officers said he was dragged. He may have been saying what Officer Tensing said, we just have to check it out. I promise I'm going to check it out."
Meanwhile, Terina Allen repeated her family's plea for non-violence.
"We'd like to see justice prevail. We'll continue to watch the case. We appreciate the support of the community. We do not advocate for violence. We pray that no one will create any. Please do not do anything to defame Sam's name or character by creating violence and attaching his name to it."
As for Ray Tensing's attorney, he says there are "two sides" to the case and the much-viewed video of the traffic-stop shooting. He maintains his client acted because he was scared for his life.
