Valentine’s Day can bring about a variety of emotions. Some people are eager to celebrate their love, and others pine for a love of their own.

Here in Cincinnati, there is no shortage of either type of person.

Today on Cincinnati Edition, we explore both sides of that coin.

First, a deep dive into what a broken heart is – and yes, it’s a real thing. And, we look into the emotional toll caused by loneliness. Joining us are Dr. Erin Thase, a professor of psychiatry and behavioral neuroscience at the University of Cincinnati; and Dr. Richard Becker, professor of medicine and director of cardiovascular health and diseases at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Then we talk about the most romantic places to take a date in Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky, and look at the general landscape of dating around here, with Wine Me, Dine Me writer and WVXU contributor Julie Niesen (@winemedineme) and Date Night Cincinnati (@datenightcincy) writer Carley Courts; and public relations event manager, professional mascot and 2016 Bockfest Sausage Queen, Rachel Appenfelder.
