Coronavirus
As a new strain of coronavirus (COVID-19) swept through the world in 2020, preparedness plans, masking policies and more public policy changed just as quickly. WVXU has covered the pandemic's impact on the Tri-State from the very beginning, when on March 3, 2020, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine barred spectators from attending the Arnold Sports Festival in Columbus over concerns about the virus, even though Ohio had yet to confirm a single case of COVID-19.

Earlier this week, Gov. Mike DeWine referred to some online rumors that have reportedly been echoed by some Ohio lawmakers, as "garbage" and "ridiculous." No, the governor said, the government is not planning to take kids away from parents and place them in FEMA camps in order to stop the spread of COVID-19.

But one thing that is true: DeWine named a new state health leader as Ohio continues its battle against the coronavirus pandemic, only to have her withdrawl her name for "personal reasons" a few hours later.

Ohio Public Radio Statehouse News Bureau reporters Jo Ingles and Andy Chow join us for the week's news from Columbus.

Six months ago in Kentucky, the first COVID-19 cases emerged in rural Harrison County. Spectrum News reporter Khatya Patel went there to see how the county is doing now. She talks with us about her visit.

Meanwhile, there are still questions that have lingered since this whole pandemic started: Do hospitals really make more money by treating COVID-19 patients? Do people receive letters in the mail telling them they tested positive for the virus when they have actually never been tested at all? Cincinnati Enquirer reporter Anne Saker has answers for us.

And WVXU reporters Ann Thompson and Cory Sharber are with us for the week's headlines from the WVXU newsroom.

Listen to Cincinnati Edition live at noon M-F. Audio for this segment will be uploaded after 4 p.m. ET.
