The SkyStar opened at The Banks in September 2018.

The SkyStar wheel at The Banks might not be around for much longer. The owners are in talks with Hamilton County to replace it with a larger wheel.

County Administrator Jeff Aluotto says talks are underway for SkyStar to put a bigger wheel between the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center and the Ohio River. "We received SkyStar's proposal a couple of weeks ago. We're currently in discussions with them. We've extended their current lease down there, but at the end of the day we're looking at a bigger wheel with a more permanent set-up."

Aluotto says visitors to The Banks have "raved" about the Ferris wheel. He says it's been an attraction that has helped nearby restaurants and bars.

A bigger, permanent wheel would mean physical improvements to Lot 18 and Aluotto says that's under discussion as well.

He's hoping for some sort of decision to be finalized within the next several weeks.
