The Pregnant Workers Act becomes law in Kentucky on June 27. It was passed as Senate Bill 18 on the final day of the 2019 Kentucky General Assembly session and is expected to impact thousands of local businesses in Northern Kentucky.
With the newly adopted legislation, signed into law in April by Governor Matt Bevin, employers will be liable for not providing reasonable accommodations to employees for pregnancy, childbirth or a related medical condition.
Businesses must also post notices of employees' rights on these matters and offer written notices to all new employees.
