With schools closed due to the coronavirus pandemic, WCET-TV and WPTD-TV -- and public TV stations across Ohio -- will drop regular daytime programming to offer a learn-at-home lineup for children, parents and teachers.
Starting Monday, Channel 48.1 and Dayton's Channel 16.1 will "offer a full line-up of age and grade-level appropriate, standards-based programs so that children can continue to learn, whether or not they have internet access," said Kellie May, WCET-TV manager of communications and digital initiatives.
Genius By Stephen Hawking, Shakespeare Uncovered, Great American Read, The Amazing Human Body, Africa's Great Civilizations, American Experience: Influenza 1918, Little Women Masterpiece, Ancient Sky, Cyerchase and Sci Girls will air next week.
"This special programming will continue in the coming weeks and has been developed in cooperation with the Department of Education, local and regional educators. This is a major undertaking for your local PBS stations and we would greatly appreciate your help in spreading the word to our communities," May says.

Local PBS Stations Change Daytime Schedule to Help Families & Teachers
with At Home Learning During School Closures
CINCINNATI, OH – ThinkTV and CET have quickly changed their daytime schedules on their main channels to help students, families and teachers with at home learning during school closures. The schedule, which is focused on younger children in the morning and older learners later in the day, will be broadcast on ThinkTV 16.1 and CET 48.1 starting Monday, March 30, 2020.
“As communities respond to the coronavirus, students must continue their education at home, but we know that not every student in Ohio has access to the internet from home. Now, more than ever, parents, teachers and children can turn to public educational television for the resources children need to learn. Beginning next Monday CET and ThinkTV will change our daytime programming schedules to offer a full line-up of age and grade-level appropriate, standards-based programs so that children can continue to learn, whether or not they have internet access. This special programming will continue in the coming weeks and has been developed in cooperation with the Department of Education, local and regional educators,” CET and ThinkTV President and CEO David Fogarty said.
The new schedule airs from 7am to 5pm each weekday and will be updated each week until further notice. The schedule for the first week is below. Programs starting at 2pm will be interrupted for the broadcast of Governor Mike DeWine’s daily press conferences when available.
