'Not Racist' Isn't The Same As 'Anti-Racist' For Ibram X. Kendi

Sep 10, 2019

Dr. Ibram X. Kendi says there is no such thing as being "not racist." As one of the leading commentators on race in America, he argues there are only racist and antiracist ideas.

Kendi leads the Antiracist Research & Policy Center at American University and has won wide acclaim for his writing. His book Stamped from the Beginning: The Definitive History of Racist Ideas in America is a New York Times bestseller and won the National Book Award for Nonfiction. Kendi is out with a new book, How to Be an Anti-Racist.

Kendi will serve as the University of Dayton's Inclusive Excellence Scholar-in-Residence on Sept. 16 and 17. He will give a free public talk followed by a book signing at 7 p.m. on Sept. 16 in the Kennedy Union ballroom and conduct a faculty and staff forum related to his book, How to Be an Anti-Racist, from 8:30-10 a.m. on Sept. 17 in Kennedy Union 222.
