Coronavirus
As a new strain of coronavirus (COVID-19) swept through the world in 2020, preparedness plans, masking policies and more public policy changed just as quickly. WVXU has covered the pandemic's impact on the Tri-State from the very beginning, when on March 3, 2020, Ohio Gov. With COVID vaccines more widely available, people are looking to make up for lost time this year with travel opportunities they missed out on during quarantine. The buzz term this season is "revenge travel," and those in the travel industry are hoping for a huge increase in the number of people booking flights and hotels this spring and summer.

The Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) finished 2020 at about 40% of the passengers they saw in 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But the rate of recovery has been improving. So what is the airport expecting for the summer travel season? And what do passengers need to know about safe travel as more and more Americans get the vaccine?

And if you're sticking close to home, there are plenty of summer activities to enjoy outdoors. 3CDC has a summer lineup planned for Washington Park, Fountain Square and Ziegler Park. Activities include pop-up concerts, outdoor workouts and swimming. You can find out more aboutsummer programming on 3CDC's website.

Joining Cincinnati Edition to discuss safe summer travel and outdoor activities are CVG CEO Candace McGraw; 3CDC Event Management Senior Vice President Christy Samad; and Kent State University College of Public Health Professor of Epidemiology Tara Smith, Ph.D.

Listen to Cincinnati Edition live at noon M-F. Audio for this segment will be uploaded after 4 p.m. ET.
