When a family faces homelessness a child can be displaced from familiar comforts including school, friends and even toys. Three University of Cincinnati students thought a sidekick could help.
The trio began working with children at UpSpring, which assists young people experiencing homelessness. The children draw their vision of a sidekick and then watch as the UC students turn the drawings into a custom-made toy.
Here to discuss "Sidekicks" is Macy Meyer who created the project along with Andy Meyer and Jamie Maier. Also joining us are Upspring Executive Director Mike Moroski; WCPO.com Reporter Lucy May; and University of Cincinnati School of Social Work Assistant Professor Dr. James Canfield.
