Churchill Downs announced last week not only that it plans to construct a $200 million horse racing and gaming track somewhere in Northern Kentucky, but also that it seeks to take away the winter racing dates historically awarded to Turfway Park in Florence.
Now the two tracks are in a battle with the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission to land the dates, with Turfway facing an uncertain future should it come out on the losing end of this squabble. So, what happens next?
