The Reds delayed 2020 Opening Day game will air on WKRC-TV at 6:10 p.m. Friday July 24, as Channel 12 again simulcasts Fox Sports Ohio's telecast of the Reds first game of the season.

It's not small ball, it's Thrall Ball!

Tommy Thrall takes over Cincinnati Reds radio play-by-play this spring from Marty Brennaman, who retired last fall after 46 seasons. Thrall will call all of the spring training games from Arizona, many of them with analyst Jeff Brantley. The Reds' spring opener is 3:05 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, in Goodyear, Ariz.

After a year sitting in the back of the booth, Tommy Thrall is looking forward to taking over the Reds' main broadcasting role starting with the weekly Hot Stove League talk show Wednesday, Nov. 6.

Sports broadcaster Tommy Thrall has been the voice of the Reds' Pensacola Blue Wahoos AA team for the last seven years. This month, he begins announcing games for the Reds with Marty Brennaman and Jeff Brantley.

A few things to know about Tommy Thrall, new Reds radio announcer: He loves baseball and he loves radio. He grew up listening to Hall of Famer Denny Matthews call Kansas City Royals games.

And Reds fans have heard him a couple times – during spring training a year ago, and last September when Marty Brennaman was off hosting his annual golf classic.

Update 11:30 a.m. Thursday Jan. 31: This just in from Karen Forgus, Reds Senior Vice President of Business Operations, about Tommy Thrall's addition to the Reds Radio team:

“Tommy Thrall was added to our broadcast staff for 2019 as our 'utility' broadcaster. His duties will include hosting the Reds on Radio post-game show and producing stories and interviews for the radio pre-game show. Additionally, he will fill in on play-by-play for the games Marty is not working. We have no plans beyond 2019 at this time.”

Thrall is expected to do the postgame show starting with the Reds-Indians spring opener Saturday, Feb. 23. Marty Brennaman and Jeff Brantley will call the game.
