Parenting Special Needs Children

Many parents say raising a child is a joyful experience. But as most moms and dads will admit, parenting can sometimes be challenging, tiring, and frustrating. And what if your child has a physical, emotional or developmental disability? Dr Kara Ayers, Advocacy and Dissemination coordinator for the UC University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities, Tim Vogt, executive director of Starfire, and Starfire Board Member Kathleen Cail look at how parents of special needs children take care of them, themselves, and their families.

In 2005, Maryanne Zeleznik came to 91.7 WVXU from WNKU where she served as News and Public Affairs Director for 20 years. At WVXU she is responsible for all news and public affairs programming, hosts Morning Edition Monday through Friday, and fills in to host Cincinnati Edition. As time allows, she covers daily news, produces local features, and contributes news stories to National Public Radio.
