A new location for the Cincinnati Police Department’s District 3 headquarters could be announced within the next two to three weeks.
Officials have narrowed the list of possible sites down to four locations.
Those are:
- 2841 Boudinot Avenue in Westwood
- 2300 Ferguson Road in Westwood
- Hawthorne Avenue (Price Hill Recreation Complex) in East Price Hill
- Midway School in Westwood
The city manager released those sites in a memo to Mayor Mark Mallory and Council Members this week.
The city reviewed 27 proposed sites for the new police building. Officials held two public hearings to talk with residents, business and property owners and other stakeholders in District 3.
City Council approved funding for the new facility in the capital budget it approved in December.
Once a final site is selected, the city’s internal team will select the design and construction teams. The manager said in the memo he anticipates the neighborhoods in the district will be invited to assist with the design and public components of the new facility.
The new development will replace the existing District 3 headquarters at 3201 Warsaw Avenue in East Price Hill. The memo said it was constructed in 1908, and it’s now structurally and technologically obsolete, not accessible and not compliant with ADA regulations. The memo continues it has insufficient parking, space for staff, community space and storage.
Police District 3 encompasses 14 city neighborhoods on the west side of Cincinnati. Those are: East Price Hill, East Westwood, English Woods, Lower Price Hill, Millvale, North Fairmount, Riverside, Roll Hill, Sayler Park, Sedamsville, South Cumminsville, South Fairmount, West Price Hill and Westwood.
