“Goat,” a major motion picture, will be filmed in Cincinnati beginning next month, according to the Greater Cincinnati Film Commission.
The film – adapted from a memoir of fraternity hazing – is being produced by producers Christine Vachon and David Hinojosa of Killer Films, along with Rabbit Bandini Productions’ James Franco and Vince Jolivette, a Hamilton native.
The executive producer is John Wells, who has won Emmy awards for "ER" and "The West Wing;" and is executive producer of the Showtime series "Shameless."
Production offices opened last week and filming will begin on Monday, May 4.
“We had a great experience in Cincinnati on our films ‘Carol’ and ‘The Blunderer’ in 2014,’’ Vachon said in a statement released from the film commission. “The film commission, the rebate, locations, infrastructure and film-friendly people of Cincinnati have brought us back again.”
Since 2012, Ohio has had a law that increased the tax incentive Ohio offers film projects from $10 million a year to $20 million for the next two years. The film commission says the tax incentive returns $1.20 in the Ohio economy for every $1 invested by the tax incentive.
“We are maintaining sustainable work for locals,’’ said Kristen Schlotman, executive director of the Greater Cincinnati Film Commission.
