Metro Lays Out Strategy For Future
Metro says the vision behind its new strategic plan is "20 million rides by 2021." The Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority adopted the five-year plan Tuesday.The 2017-2021 plan was created by a group of Metro employees, board members, and union representatives with a goal to increase ridership.
It has four key areas:
- Operational excellence: restructure service and processes to maximize operational efficiency. Making sure buses go where riders want and need them to go.
- Strategic alignment and partnering: become an employer of choice, while increasing partnerships and support from community partners.
- Organizational sustainability: increase cost savings and revenue growth opportunities.
- Innovation: leverage technology and tools that allow for improved operational performance.
"We know from the UC Economics report that we are number one in operational efficiency with our service right now," says External Affairs Manager Brandy Jones. "But we also know that we are not reaching a number of employment centers that we need to in our area. So, we're really working to change how our service operates to better reach those customers."
Metro says it provides 16 million rides per year in Greater Cincinnati.
