Daniel Mulhall, the Irish Ambassador to the United States, arrived in Cincinnati for a quick, two-day visit that was fully booked with events, tours and meetings.
On his way back to the Irish embassy in Washington, D.C., Ambassador Mulhall took some time to talk to Cincinnati Edition via telephone while sitting in a lounge at CVG Airport.
It turns out, the airport was an important part of his visit.
Mulhall said that he spoke with CVG CEO Candace McGraw about exploring a new direct flight from Cincinnati to Dublin, which he said would aid the many business interests that tie the two cities.
Additionally, Mulhall talked about his visit with the Irish Heritage Center of Cincinnati; receiving the key to the city of Cincinnati; his role as honorary president of the Yeats Society; and why a certain collection inspired him to spend time at the Downtown library.
Listen to Cincinnati Edition live at noon M-F. Audio for this segment will be uploaded after 4 p.m. ET.
